OUR SCHOOL
We follow a holistic approach when helping learners to achieve their full potential. With a fully qualified team of Occupational therapists, Social worker, Educational psychologists, counsellor and a registered school Sister all work together with the academic and vocational educators to assist learners in achieving their best.
ACADEMIC
The school follows the TOC Curriculum as well as the DE CAPPS Curriculum. The learners receive instruction in both scholastic as well as centrum subjects to enable them to form part of a positive part of the working force.
CULTURE
At Suiderberg culture runs through our veins. We believe that the participation in culture activities offers learners the opportunity to develop their talents optimally, we believe that the development of these talents of learners help to foster confidence.
SPORT
At Suiderberg we have a firm belief that a healthy body results in a healthy mindset. We have a variety of sports codes to chose from such as athletics, cross country, chess, rugby, netball and cricket.
A School For Opportunities
Suiderberg School is a LSEN (Learners with Special Educational Needs) school and caters for the Mild to Moderate Intellectually Disabled (MID) learner. The school accommodates the Preparation, Year 1 to Year 4 as well as the learners on the De-Capps curriculum. We are very proud of our Exit-programmes: N1 and MDCS, which offers learners the extended opportunity to join the workforce which an advanced qualification.
Learners receive individual attention to address their specific needs. Classes are much smaller than in mainstream schools, to create an optimum learning environment. Suiderberg School follows the Technical Occupational Curriculum (TOC), the aim is to develop and equipped learners with the skills to be able to function in the working environment.
The focus of the school thus not only falls on academic achievements, but also on the development of the vocational skills and building of character through sport and cultural activities. This gives learners the opportunity to develop and build leadershipskills.
