Discipline

Discipline is a very important factor in civilized life today. Without discipline, there will be confusion and no boundaries. Therefore, Suiderberg School implements discipline through the school’s Code of Conduct to maintain order. We aim to teach our learners to maintain and accept discipline, as it is just as important for life after school.

The aim of implementing discipline is:

• To learn to work hard
• To live an active life
• Positivity
• To give your best at school
• Self-control
• Respect for yourself and others
• To take care of yourself
• To help others

Children should already be taught the value of discipline from childhood. That is why Suiderberg School and its parents are in a partnership in assisting each other in this important task. It takes time and patience to implement discipline at home and at school.

Unfortunately, learners do not behave themselves. That is why the Code of Conduct plays a significant role to intervene by having parent meetings, detention, disciplinary hearings and rehabilitation.

We make use of a pastoral counsellor (trauma, adapting to life at school), occupational therapists and a social worker (aggression, drugs/alcohol misuse, social problems) and rehabilitation centres to support our learners and parents
