School hours:

• 07:15 – 13:25 Mondays to Thursdays
• 07:15 – 12:50 Fridays
• We don’t have an aftercare centre.
• Staff are on duty from 07:00 to 14:00

Transport:

• Please make your own arrangements if your child uses private or public transport.
• There is currently a free bus service for several areas – please contact the school for more information. (The school cannot guarantee this bus service, as it is a contract between the department and specific service providers).
• There is an enclosed shed for bicycles.
• Learners should bring their own chain and lock to lock their bicycles in the shed.

School fees:

• School fees can be paid monthly over a period of 10 months.
• The school accepts electronic or cash payments and card facilities are available.
• Application for subsidy / exemption from school fees can only be considered if
  the forms are completed properly and submitted with the necessary supporting
  documents.
• The above mentioned application forms are only issued for enrolled learners,
  upon request from the parent / guardian.

School uniform:

●Boys and girls wear black school shoes. (Learners may not come to school bare feet).
●Boys may wear grey school trousers or grey school shorts.
●Girls may wear grey school skirts or grey trousers
●Boys and girls wear long grey socks throughout the year.
●Boys and girls wear plain white short or long sleeve school shirts.
●Maroon jerseys / pullovers / drimac jacket.
●A knitted beanie, scarf and gloves without any pattern or brand name, can be worn in winter.
●A maroon blazer and a tie are optional.

●Clothes are available from most retail outlets that sell school uniforms.
●Second hand school uniform items are occasionally available at school, depending on donations.
●Learners are responsible for overalls / clothes to wear in the workshops if they want to protect their school
clothes.
●Boys may wear safety shoes in the workshops if they prefer.
●Learners may wear decent and suitable civilian clothes during physical education.

Tuck shop and feeding scheme:

●The tuck shop is open during break time and sells cold drink, water, sweets, chips, pies and occasionally other
items like toasted sandwiches.
●Learners can also bring their own food from home.
●Learners whose applications for subsidy of school fees have been approved, qualify for the school’s feedings
scheme that provides food at break time.

Application process:

●The SIAS process needs to be followed:

○The referring school (where the child currently attends) completes the necessary SIAS documents
and arranges with the parent to sign the documents.

○The parent signs on the SNA1 form, as well as on the DBE123a and DBE120 forms and any other
relevant forms if necessary.

○There needs to be a recent report from an educational psychologist, indicating the child’s intellectual
potential. (The evaluation should have taken place within the last two years).

○Other documents such as the parents’ ID, the child’s birth certificate and proof of address should be
included with the SIAS documents.

○It is the referring school’s responsibility to submitthe complete set of documents to the District.

○The District decides if the learner needs to be placed in a special school, and at which special school,
depending on the support that the learner needs.

○The District issues an LSEN number.

○(The documents of learners that are in an LSEN class or another special school and already have an
LSEN number, should still be sent in to the District and Head Office for approval, with their current
LSEN number clearly indicated on the documents).

○The District sends all applications to Head Office for final approval.

○The District then communicates with the referring school and the special school where the learner
will be placed and then the parents are informed.
